ABOUT SARAH PROVENCAL
I am a theatre director, professor, and teaching artist currently based in Charlotte, NC. In addition to being a freelance director, I also teach directing, acting, and script analysis courses at Winthrop University and Children's Theatre of Charlotte.
I would like to acknowledge that the spaces in which I work are located on the Indigenous lands of the Sugaree, Catawba, and Waxhaw tribes. Acknowledging my white ancestor’s practices of colonization and erasure, though it is a small step, holds a deep connection to my belief in theatre’s power to create change through empathy.

HOW DO YOU DEFINE YOUR DIRECTING STYLE?
Collaborative and attentive. I'm drawn to classic works that are exploring the soul and new works that are navigating our shifting culture. In the rehearsal room, I am firm, caring, and really excited. Throughout the production process I enjoy playing with the balance between the big ideas and tiny details that create a world.
